Looks like somebody forgot to feed Orange!
The Scientist

Overview

Orange is a major antagonist in Rainbow Friends who first appears on Night 3 of Chapter 1. He appears in Night 3 of Chapter 1, and Hour 5 of Chapter 2.

Orange is the 3rd Rainbow Friend to be introduced in the series.

Appearance and Physical Abilities

Appearance

Orange is a short, scrawny monster, resembling a Baryonyx. He is characterized by his bright orange skin, bulging eyes, and rows of sharp, conical teeth lining his triangular jaws. His vertical pupils will sometimes look in opposite directions. When standing, he appears upright, balancing on two spindly legs with his three-clawed hands reaching forwards. His twig-like body ends with a stubby tail.

Physical Abilities

As expected, Orange is able to walk and run. His walking speed is unknown, as he never walks in Chapter 1. His running speed is faster than the players, being able to catch up to them easily.

Orange is able to kill players easily by biting into their head with the help of his sharp teeth.

Night 3-4

Orange.

Him spinning his foodlock.

After collecting all Food Packs, Orange appears and spins his foodlock. The Scientist comments on it, saying he probaly smelled the food.

Orange resting or smth

Him resting inside his hideout.

During the Nights, Orange spends the vast majority of his time in his hideout, seemingly resting or asleep. The food bowl below him will slowly drain, becoming depleted over a period of 1 minute and 40 seconds. Once it is fully drained, Orange will enter an enraged state and begin a rampage.

OrangeChase

Orange in his rampage.

His rampage is indicated by a loud alarm. He will follow a fixed path marked by an Orange, glowing, jagged line all the way through the map, making a round trip all the way back to his lair where he will climb back up and continue to rest. When not interupted, his trip will last for around 45 seconds.
While on his rampage, his behavior is similar to that of Blue, Cyan, and Yellow, as he actively hunts for players. If a player enters Orange’s line of sight, he will immediately break from his path and turn to chase after them. Different to the other chasing monsters, upon seeing someone, he instantly is able to kill them, lacking their 2-second buffer period. Players can avoid him by hiding inside of a box, locker, or crouch space. However, Orange is incredibly fast - it's rare for players he spots to survive, as he moves much faster than one. When Orange loses sight of the player, he will run to where he last saw them go before pausing to think. Then, he will return to his path. If the box is equipped out of his line of sight, even if he is actively in pursuit, Orange will be unable to find them. Attempting to equip the box while still in his line of sight, however, will not fool him - a red exclamation mark will appear, indicating he still knows the player is inside. This is only the case for the box - even if Orange watches someone crouch beneath an object or enter a locker, he is unable to reach them and loses interest.

Da machine

The Food Dispenser 3000.

In order to prevent Orange from exiting his lair, the players must ensure he is fed and undisturbed. To refill his food bowl, the player must run into the lever on the Food Dispenser 3000. This will activate the machine, fully replenishing the bowl. However, in order to access the lever, the player will have to walk close to Orange and through the bells. Despite them not emitting an audible cue, touching this area will cause Orange to lift his head. In the files, this is referred to as his "Trigger Distance".[1] If the player fails to move out of his "Leave Trigger Distance", which is an area with a slightly larger radius[1], he will temporarily come out to investigate. A boxed player still triggers his exit. Orange's investigation is similar to his rampage, as he will run the same path and exhibit the same behaviors. However, it is significantly shorter, as he will only travel a short distance before turning around and heading back to his hideout. Furthermore, the alarm will not sound and the line will not be visible.

Hour 5

7seconds huh

Orange in Chapter 2.

After beeing missing for the entire Chapter, not counting the cutouts, Orange makes a minor appearance in Hour 5, being the first monster which players must turn to avoid. He is inside of a barrel with a piece of dynamite in his mouth. Upon seeing the cart, he will drop the object and leap out of the barrel in pursuit. He narrowly misses if it leans right to avoid him. He will find every player in the cart if they head straight or left.[2]

Difficulty and Stratagies

Information Difficulty
Orange has a special behaviour compared to the other Rainbow Friends. He dosen't activly roams the map and instead, stays inside his hideout. He only roams the map if he didn't get fed in time. This mode is called "Rampage". In this mode, he runs through the entiry map with high speeds, killing any player crossing his path. After running throught them map, he returns to his hideout and the cycle repeats. This rampage mode can be stopped if his food gets refilled in time, though.

Despite sounding difficult, Orange can be easily avoided by putting on your box. He isn't able to kill you inside it.

Very Easy - Hard
(Depending on circumstances)

Strategies

  • While he is in his rampage, try to avoid him. It is possible to survive him, though its quite uncommon.
  • Whenever you're near Orange's cave, it's best to exercise caution - even if his food is not empty, another player may trigger him to come out without warning.
  • If you're passing by the cave, it's best to go feed him again to prevent a rampage.
  • It's possible to predict where Orange's line will appear by looking at the orange claw marks across the ground.[3]
