The Scientist, commonly referred to as Red by the community, is the overarching antagonist of Rainbow Friends. He appears as an unseen antagonist of Chapter 1 and the overarching antagonist of Chapter 2.
Appearance
Up until the finale of Chapter 1, Scientist hides his appearance. Scientist is a humanoid wearing a white labcoat, under which he wears a black vest, a red undershirt, and black pants. He has the Robloxian 2.0 body package. His round headgear has the appearance of a red Looky, featuring two bulbous eyes. The headgear is comprised of the offsale Roblox hats Hollow Puppet Helmet and Eyes of Pure Evil.

Scientist's motives and origins are unknown. However, he possesses knowledge on each Rainbow Friend, as well as the ability to influence them to some degree. He often intentionally, even maliciously omits information when speaking. He seems to be the character trapping the players in various locations throughout the game.
Chapter 1
A mysterious silhouette, aka the Scientist, changes the sign towards Odd World, causing the bus to crash. Later, the players are shown being dragged away by him.
During the rest of the chapter, the Scientist will speak during cutscenes, explaining what the player needs to collect to progress and hinting towards the behavior of the monsters. The first time Orange goes on a rampage, he will comment on how the players forgot to feed him. He will also appear at the end once the player escapes from the vent. This is the first time his appearance is shown outside of a silhouette.
Chapter 2
During Chapter 2, the Scientist has a more significant role. In the beginning, he releases Green and Blue from a garage using a remote. After doing so, he leaves and gets the other Rainbow Friends, the ones in question beeing Yellow and Cyan.
During Hour 3, Lookies are released, knocking Technician and the players unconscious. During this time, he transports Technician all the way to the top of Green's drop ride. Once everyone regains consciousness, he reveals he has strapped red explosives to the ride's seats, which slowly begin to rise. He will ask the players to gather the Lookies before the explosives reach the Technician. However, if the players fail to collect all of the Lookies before the time runs out, Scientist will set them off. However, they are revealed to be fireworks, safely launching and detonating in the sky, leaving the Technician unscathed. Regardless of either outcome, Scientist will allow the Technician to come down safely.
At the very end of the chapter he wonders where Blue is, commenting that he is going to be late.

Trivia

- He shares the same body package as Oswald D. Davis and Blue's First Friend.
- The Scientist wears the items Loremaster's labcoat [+] and Loremaster's Labcoat [-].
- During the finale of Chapter 1, if a player manages to avoid Blue and stay in the room with the ramp, they can be seen in the final cutscene with Scientist.
- This is also possible by quickly running back through the vents after the door closes on Blue. This is, however, is significantly harder to do.
- Despite never being directly referred to with any gendered terms in-game, the description of his series 1 action figure uses masculine pronouns.[1]
- Scientist stands at 100% of the average ROBLOX avatar's height. In the files, his BodyTypeScale is listed as 0.3.
